World Mental Health Day took place this Monday, October 10th. Imagine Dragons took this opportunity to share a new music video in honor of this day: ‘Mercury – Acts 1 & 2 track, ‘I Don’t Like Myself’.

In this music, Imagine Dragons and notably singer Dan Reynolds has partnered with Crisis Text Line, encouraging fans to support the organization and its work through fundraisers available on the band’s social media platforms. As for the Video Clip, this one draws parallels between Dan Reynolds on stage and Dan Reynolds walking down the street. With great power we can see him walking in front of the camera. The black and white images relate to the power of the words of ‘I Don’t Like Myself’.

Listen to I Don't Like Myself':

Dan Reynolds talks about this music :

“I wrote this song at a very low point for me,” Reynolds says of “I Don’t Like Myself.” “I had struggled a lot with self-love over the years. I was in a deep rut of depression and turned to music for refuge. I have since spent many years in therapy working on self-love. I believe that therapy is the reason I am still alive today. If you are wondering whether or not you should go to therapy. The answer is always yes. Stay alive.”

As for the partner organization,Crisis Text Line, they are an organization that strives to provide free mental health support. They do this by providing crisis intervention via text message, in English and Spanish, throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. The organization’s services are available 24 hours a day, every day. They talk about the collaboration, “We are grateful to join forces with Imagine Dragons to raise awareness about the growing mental health crisis,” added Dena Trujillo, CEO of Crisis Text Line. “Our research shows that music is the most frequently mentioned coping mechanism for emotionally distressed youth.” The song ‘I Don’t Like Myself’ will bring comfort to many people, as it embodies the hope and empathy we all need at different times in our lives.”
