Willow Smith has announced that she will be releasing a new album called ‘Coping Mechanism’, next month.
Yesterday (August 3), the musician announced on Instagram that the new album, the follow-up to last year’s “Lately I Feel Everything,” would be released on September 23. Later tonight, a brand-new song titled “Hover Like a Goddess” will also be released. Take a look at the announcement post below:
The July 2021 release of “Lately I Feel Everything” had cameos by Travis Barker, Tierra Whack, Avril Lavigne, and others. Smith’s ability to transition from “conscious R&B star to grungy punk heartthrob” was commended by NME in their four-star review of the album, which stated that Smith had “knocked all doubts out of the park – again.”
Willow has mainly concentrated on joint releases since ‘Lately I Feel Everything’ came out last year. She collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly on the song “Emo Girl” in February, and the two performed the song live on The Late Late Show.
